Small Space Solutions

Living in a super small house, I am always trying to maximize storage without scrimping on style. Here is a list of Small Space Solutions I hope you might find helpful. Check back frequently as I will continually be adding to the list!

  • BULLETIN BOARDS – Not only are they great for displaying art, pictures, calendars and such, I use the bulletin board in my daughter’s room to stay organized. I put invitations and birth announcements on it to remind me of upcoming events and gifts I need to buy. I’m in her room all the time so the reminders are constant!

*  Ballard Designs – They have fabulous cork boards and also have some great fabric-covered magnetic boards as well. Ballard also has some pretty cute push pins.

*  Pottery BarnThis home office Daily System is great for getting organized if you have the wall space.

*  Restoration Hardware – This site has simple and classy framed chalkboards and pin boards. I would love a big framed chalkboard in the kitchen if we had the space! Great for grocery lists, appointment reminders, love notes (or honey do’s!)…just an all around great communication tool.

* LG Custom Accessories – Love how you can custom design your own bulletin board!  You have just enough to choose from to customize it and not get overwhelmed. Take a look at their gallery to get some fresh ideas!

Pearson's Art!

It did not take long for her art to take over! Now it is in constant rotation!

  • PHOTO DISPLAY LEDGE – We have a tiny hallway that is the perfect place to display our photos since we have no other wall space in our house. All of the doors and windows provide great light but leave no place to display our sentimentals. Display shelves are the solution! You can read the full post here on how we had the shelves built and rotate our photos and artwork. Here’s one sample arrangement:

But we’re out of wall space…

I love your blog. Of course, I am an HGTV fanatic. Look forward to future posts. Pearson’s room is fit for a princess.

Wow, nice room, I love the framed white mirror, the mirrored changing table & floor to ceiling curtains. Pearson must be in heaven when she sleeps!

I love that idea, I just stack all my notices on the counter, which is cluttered.

I plan on using hers until she kicks me out of her room!

Question Amy… I wanted to do this in my boys rooms so they can have their own space for pictures with friends and awards etc. I don’t want to put holes in the pictures, do you have a solution for this? Do I need to do half cork board and the other half magnetic? Thanks darling!

    • Amy Lambert Lee September 16, 2010 at 7:31 pm #

Mendy, I am the same about holes in pictures. Drives me nuts! I actually bought some great push pins from Ballard Designs that had a big flat design on the surface so I can overlap them to hold the pictures on the bulletin board without actually puncturing the picture. They don’t have the ones I purchased anymore but here are some with a large top so you get the idea.
